Switch floors in the Viewer
Show one floor, several or all of them in the Viewer's floor switcher, see how share links lock a floor, and set a building shell to Auto, Shell or Interior.
The floor switcher
The floor switcher is the first pill in the Viewer's top-right stack. It shows the name of the floor in view, for example Ground Floor. It only appears when the facility has at least one floor plan.
When the Viewer opens it shows the first floor in the list. That is the order of the editor's floor list as saved in your browser, or, if you've never reordered it there, the order the floors were added. A share link can open on a different floor, or on all of them (see below).
Pick one floor, several, or all
- 1Open the switcher
Click the pill. Each floor plan has a checkbox, its name and a level tag (L1, L2, …) based on its position in the list. All floors at the top shows how many floors there are.
- 2Tick the floors you want
The menu stays open, so you can tick several floors in a row, for example the ground and third floors without the ones in between.
- 3Or choose All floors
Puts every floor back in view at once.
| You picked | The pill reads |
|---|---|
| Every floor | "All floors" |
| One floor | That floor's name, e.g. "Ground Floor" |
| Two or more floors | "N floors" |
| Shell view (below) | "Shell" |
- While All floors is selected, clicking a floor shows just that floor. Tick more from there.
- Unticking the last ticked floor goes back to All floors, so the map never shows nothing.
- When exactly one floor is picked, the map turns to that floor plan's own rotation so it lines up with the screen.
What happens to other floors
Every shape assigned to a floor you didn't pick is hidden: racks, areas, walls and aisles, markers, doors, stairs, models, image planes and text labels.
- A lift appears on every floor it serves, and an escalator on both its floors. See Lifts & escalators.
- Shapes that aren't assigned to any floor show on every floor. If something appears where it shouldn't, assign it to the right floor in the editor.
- When an upper floor is shown on its own, a "building base" fills the space beneath it. Its look (Solid, Ghost or Off) is the editor's Building base graphics setting, saved in your browser.
- Data links that place records by floor follow your pick when exactly one floor is selected. With several floors or All floors, their records aren't filtered by floor.
- The Layers panel only lists the shapes on the floors in view.
Auto, Shell and Interior
If one of the facility's 3D models is marked as the building's outside (the Facility shell section in the model's side panel, see 3D models), the switcher gets three buttons at the top: Auto, Shell and Interior. Facilities without a shell don't show them.
| Button | What you see |
|---|---|
| Auto (default) | The shell fades out as you zoom in and the interior takes over, then fades back as you zoom out. |
| Shell | Only the shell. Every floor, shape and data link is hidden, and the floor list disappears from the switcher. |
| Interior | The shell is hidden and the interior shows at every zoom. |
