Select, move, rotate and scale shapes
Select shapes in the Spatial Map editor by click, Shift-click or marquee, then move, rotate, scale and raise them with the mouse or the keyboard.
Select a shape
Click a shape on the map with the Select tool, or click its row in the side panel’s lists. Holding Space selects for a moment from any tool and returns to it when you let go. The side panel then shows that shape: its name, number and the sections for its kind.
| Click | Select this shape and clear everything else. |
| Shift + click | Add or remove this shape (same kind). ⌘/Ctrl + click does the same. |
| Space (hold) | Select for a moment, then go back to your tool. |
| Q, then drag | Marquee select: every shape inside the box, of any kind. Shift-drag adds to the selection. |
| Esc | Deselect (after first cancelling a transform or a drawing in progress). |
Clicking works one kind at a time: Shift-click an area and then a rack and you end up with just the rack. To select areas, walls and labels together, use Marquee select; see Multi-select and bulk edit.
What gets picked when shapes overlap
A facility is layered: a label inside a room on top of a floor plan. When a click lands on several shapes, the editor picks the most specific one, in this order:
| Order | Kind |
|---|---|
| 1 | Text label |
| 2 | 3D model |
| 3 | Stair |
| 4 | Door |
| 5 | Route |
| 6 | Aisle / wall |
| 7 | Area |
| 8 | Circle |
| 9 | Rack |
| 10 | Floor plan |
Assets (markers) sit above the map and always take the click first. To reach a floor plan under other shapes, click an empty part of it or pick it from the Floor plans list.
Move, rotate and scale
The Actions section of a selected shape offers the transforms that suit its kind. Racks and floor plans get Move, Rotate and Scale (racks also Re-draw); areas get Move, Rotate and Edit vertices. Each mode puts a handle on the map, and the status bar shows the keys for it.
| Transform | With the mouse | With the keyboard (no mode needed) |
|---|---|---|
| Move | Drag the shape. | Arrow keys: 0.5 m per press, 5 m with Shift. |
| Rotate | Drag the handle around the centre. | [ and ]: 1° per press, 15° with Shift. |
| Scale | Drag the corner handle. | - and +: about 5 % per press (not for areas, aisles or stairs). |
| Elevation | Set it in 3D & Altitude. | PgUp / PgDn: 0.5 m per press, for assets, 3D models, floor plans and racks. |
Arrow keys move racks, floor plans, areas, aisles, stairs and text labels along their own heading, so a rack row turned 30° slides along its length when you press Up. Assets, 3D models and circles move north, south, east and west.
Finish or cancel
| Release the mouse | Keeps the change. It saves a moment later. |
| Esc | Leaves the transform mode. During a drag it drops the change. |
| F | Fits the map to the selected shape. |
| ⌘/Ctrl + D | Duplicates the selected shape, named "… (copy)". |
| Delete / Backspace | Deletes the selection. |
Moves, rotations and vertex edits on areas, and deletes of most kinds, can be undone with ⌘/Ctrl + Z. Other edits save straight away and are reversed by changing them back. See Autosave, undo and redo.
Racks with linked bins
A rack whose bins are linked to external data shows Geometry locked: "Scale and redraw are disabled to keep row/col addresses stable. Move and rotate remain available." A rack whose bins carry live stock levels, for example, stays locked so its bin addresses keep matching the data.
Rack-specific controls are in the Rack tool guide; every shortcut is in Keyboard shortcuts.
