Style a data link layer

Set a data link's base look — icon, colours, marker size, fill opacity, clustering, heatmap radius — and tick which facility style rules may recolour it.

Style, then style rules

Style is the layer's default look — one colour, icon and size for every record. Style rules lets rules defined once for the facility override that look per record: a Room status link is blue by default, but each room turns a different colour depending on its `status` (Available, In use, Cleaning, Out of service).

Live preview

The section opens with "How the {mode} appears." and a Live preview of one record in the current settings — a marker, a tinted shape, a badge, a heat spot, a line, a cone or a pulsing ring, depending on the mode. It redraws as you drag a slider.

Colour and icon

Live location marker, Info marker on shape and Historical movement get an icon picker with a search box, plus Icon color (the glyph) and Marker color (the disc behind it). For example, a Staff link might use a person icon on green #16A34A, an Equipment link a tag icon on blue, and an Environmental sensors link a thermometer.

Every other mode gets one colour box with a hex field, named for what it colours: Fill color (Color a shape), Badge color, Base color (heatmap), Line color, Cone color or Ring color. "Style rules can override per record."

Each slider has a number box for exact values.

Clustering (Live location marker)

Cluster nearby markers — "Groups close-together markers into a bubble with a count. Ideal for dense feeds." It is on for new links; Cluster radius (5–100 px, default 22) sets how close is close. Combine it with a Cluster group field in Connect fields so bubbles never merge across rooms. Turn clustering off when every marker should stay visible on its own, for example a small set of staff badges.

Heatmap density

Once a source is picked, a heatmap also gets Density source: Live rows (one per record), or Change history (weighted by events) with a window of Last hour, Last 24h, Last 7 days or Last 30 days. "History uses every insert/update/delete over the window, so a row that changed 200 times contributes 200× the weight."

Style rules: pick which rules apply

"Pick which zone-level style rules can override this layer's default colour / label. Rules fire top-down; first match wins." The rules themselves — conditions and colours — are written once per facility in the editor's side panel; see Style rules. Here you only tick which ones this link uses.

  • The list shows every rule of this facility, lowest priority number first — the order they are tried in. Each row has a tick box, a swatch of the rule's fill colour, its name, its priority (`p10`) and an "off" badge if the rule is switched off.
  • The caption counts your picks ("5 of 9 picked") or says "No rules picked — layer paints with defaults only."
  • All ticks every rule; None clears them.
  • With no rules on the facility yet: "No rules defined for this warehouse yet. Add one from the sidebar's Style rules panel, then come back here to tick which apply."

Room status ticks its four room rules (Room available, Room in use, Room cleaning, Room out of service) and leaves rules written for other layers, such as rack stock rules, unticked. A rule only affects the layers that tick it, and a ticked rule that is switched off is skipped. Next: Map tooltip and content viewer.
