Autosave, undo and redo
How the Spatial Map editor saves every change automatically, what Saving…, Saved and Offline mean, which edits undo covers, and how teammates see your changes.
Every change saves itself
There is no Save button in the editor. Every change (moving a rack, recolouring an area, resizing a floor plan) shows on the map at once and is sent to the server about 400 ms after you stop. Finishing a gesture, such as releasing a slider or pressing Enter, sends it straight away, and a burst of changes to one shape (a slider drag, a run of arrow-key nudges) goes as a single save.
Pending changes are also sent when you switch tabs or leave the editor, and the browser asks before closing or reloading the page while anything is still unsaved.
Read the save state
A small pill next to the facility name at the top of the map shows the save state. It appears after your first edit.
| Pill | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Saving… | Changes are queued or on their way. Keep working. |
| Saved | Everything has reached the server. Hover it for the exact time. |
| Offline · Retry | Saves are failing because of the network. Your changes are kept and retried automatically; Retry tries again now. |
| Not saved | A save failed. |
While a change is waiting, a pulsing dot also sits next to the side panel’s header ("Unsaved changes — auto-saving…"). If the server refuses a value, that one change is rolled back on the map and a message says "A change couldn’t be saved and was undone".
What undo covers
Undo and redo cover the changes that are hardest to rebuild: deleted shapes, redrawn racks and reshaped areas. Other edits save as you go and are reversed by changing them back. Undo and Redo are also in the status bar.
| ⌘/Ctrl + Z | Undo |
| ⌘/Ctrl + Shift + Z or ⌘/Ctrl + Y | Redo |
| Can be undone | Can’t be undone |
|---|---|
| Deleting racks, assets, circles, areas, aisles and walls, 3D models, text labels, stairs and doors | Deleting floor plans, image planes or routes |
| Redrawing a rack (R) | Colour, opacity, size, elevation and other panel edits |
| Moving, rotating and editing the vertices of an area | Arrow-key nudges and rotate / scale / elevation keys, renames, visibility, the default floor pin |
How others see your changes
There is no publish step. Once the pill reads Saved, the change is live. Teammates with the facility open (in the editor or in Preview) receive it without refreshing. Visitors on a share link see layout changes the next time they load the page; live data on the map keeps updating by itself.
When two people edit the same facility, your own change stays on screen until the server confirms it, so an incoming update never snaps a slider you’re dragging back to an old value.
