Choose which data links a share link shows

On the Share dialog's Data links tab, choose which data-link layers a share link's guests start with, one switch per layer, and how this differs from Live data.

What the Data links tab does

The tab lists every data link on the facility, with a switch on each row: "Toggle a config off to hide it entirely for viewers of this link. Filters can still be set by the viewer at runtime."

  • Name: the data link's name.
  • Second line: what it attaches to and how it draws, in short form, e.g. "polygon · shape-tint" or "marker · point-at-coord". Handy for telling similar names apart.
  • Switch: on means guests start with the layer showing. Off means it starts hidden.

Hidden means "starts hidden"

A layer switched off here starts hidden and drops out of the guest's Filters dialog. It still has a row in the guest's Layers panel, though, so a guest can switch it back on.

  • To stop guests turning layers back on, also turn off Layers panel on the Viewer chrome tab.
  • To remove every data-link layer and keep it removed, turn off Live data on the Layout tab.

Data links tab vs. Live data

With Live data off, the switches on this tab don't matter: every layer is already hidden.

Saved filters on a share link

The Share dialog has no setting to pick a saved filter for a link. Guests get each layer's default filter, if it has one (set in the data-link editor), and can pick another from the Filters pill unless you hide it with Data link filter on the Viewer chrome tab. If different audiences need different defaults, make a second data link with its own default filter, then show one and hide the other on each link.
