Indoor mapping and RFID tracking software for Italy

Italy’s industrial strength is spread across thousands of specialised manufacturers — machinery builders, fashion and leather houses, food producers — many of them clustered in industrial districts. Spatial Map gives each plant, warehouse and cold store a live 3D map in the browser, fed by the RFID, BLE and sensor hardware already on site, so high-value goods, work in progress and temperatures are visible where they actually are.

Industrial districts and the machinery of the north

Italian industry is known for its distretti industriali — clusters of specialised small and medium-sized firms in one area, from packaging machinery around Bologna to ceramic tiles in Sassuolo, eyewear around Belluno and textiles in Prato. Lombardy, Emilia-Romagna, Veneto and Piedmont host much of the country’s manufacturing, and Italy is one of Europe’s leading producers of industrial machinery.

For a machinery builder or component supplier, the floor is where orders get stuck: a frame waiting for a subassembly, a kit not complete at the bay, finished machines waiting for shipment. Spatial Map draws assembly bays, racks, test areas and docks on the plant layout and colours them from your ERP or MES data, while RFID or BLE tags on kits, carriers and tools show where they are. The Summit Assembly demo shows the idea with assembly lines and 867 rack locations.

Fashion and luxury: high-value items, piece by piece

Milan and Florence anchor a fashion and luxury industry whose supply chain runs through leather workshops, textile mills and central distribution warehouses before reaching stores worldwide. Items are high-value and increasingly tagged individually with RFID, so the question is less “how many?” than “where is this piece now, and did it pass the door it should have?”.

Spatial Map maps the warehouse, the secure store and the shop floors, and shows RFID reads reader by reader: zones, choke points and exits on the map, each item’s latest read in the detail drawer, and its row history replayed with the History player. The Northgate Electronics demo follows 863 RFID-tagged units through security zones, and Retail Mart shows 85 readers at doors, escalators and lifts across three floors.

Food, agrifood and the DOP/IGP cold chain

Italy has one of the largest portfolios of protected food designations in Europe — DOP and IGP products from Parmigiano Reggiano and Prosciutto di Parma to Mozzarella di Bufala Campana and many regional cheeses, cured meats and fruits. Producers, consortium warehouses and food distributors keep these products in maturing rooms, cold rooms and freezers where temperature and humidity matter.

Spatial Map colours each room by the live readings from your sensors, shows doors open or closed and pallets on hold, and keeps recent changes in row history for replay. Your quality procedures remain the record; the map makes the state of the building visible to the people on shift. The Polar Pharma demo, a pharma cold store, shows the same pattern with temperature zones and 1,140 rack locations.

Transizione 4.0 and Transizione 5.0

Italy has run national incentive plans for digital and energy-efficient investment in industry, known as Transizione 4.0 and Transizione 5.0. Whether a particular software subscription or project qualifies, and under which conditions, is for the buyer and their tax or technical advisor to assess under the rules in force. Spatial Map makes no claim about eligibility; if your advisor needs a description of what the product does, our team can provide one through the contact form.

Language and working with us from Italy

The Spatial Map interface is not yet available in Italian. Italian teams typically use it in English, and it is also available in German, French and Spanish, plus Arabic and Chinese. Your own content — room names, rack codes, column names, report titles — stays in Italian exactly as you write it, on the map and in exported PDF and Excel reports. There is an Italian version of this page.

Spatial Map is sold online at the same USD price worldwide, and our team works with customers in Italy remotely, by video call and through the contact form. Floor-plan digitisation and integration for larger sites are quoted as a fixed-price custom service. Personal data, if you send any, is covered by our data processing agreement.

How Spatial Map does it

From plant drawing to live map

  1. 01

    Import the drawing

Upload a PDF or a DWG (AutoCAD R2004–R2018) of the plant, warehouse or store and place it at scale.

  2. 02

    Draw bays, racks and rooms

Trace assembly bays, racks with locations, cold rooms, doors, stairs and lifts on every floor.

  3. 03

    Connect ERP, RFID and sensors

Rows arrive via REST polling, CSV or Excel uploads, or the table write API.

  4. 04

    See, replay, report

Live map, history playback, reports exported to PDF or Excel, and read-only share links.

Questions from Italian teams

Not yet. The app is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese. Your own content — room names, rack codes, columns, report titles — can be in Italian and appears on the map and in reports as you write it.

We make no claim about eligibility. Whether a subscription or project qualifies for an incentive plan is for you and your tax or technical advisor to assess under the rules in force.

Yes, if your RFID system reads them. Your middleware posts reads (item, reader, time) to a table or exposes a REST endpoint that Spatial Map polls; Spatial Map shows each item’s latest read location on the map, keeps its row history and replays movement. It does not read tags itself.

Yes. Readings from your sensors arrive through your gateway or IoT platform, rooms are coloured by style rules on the value, and reports export to PDF or Excel. Your quality procedures remain the record.

The same worldwide, in US dollars: a 7-day free trial for up to 5 facilities, then Pro at $60 a month or $600 a year for up to 4 facilities. Larger sites are quoted as custom services.
