An Inpixon alternative when you need the map more than the RTLS

Spatial Map is indoor mapping software that puts live data from your existing RTLS, RFID readers and sensors on a 3D map of the building. If you are researching an Inpixon alternative, start with what you are buying. Inpixon offers industrial RTLS for manufacturing — tags, anchors, a location engine and apps. Spatial Map is the map and data layer only: it calculates no positions and works with the hardware you already run.

Inpixon in brief

Inpixon, headquartered in Berlin, positions itself as real-time location for the factory floor: an RTLS platform with a location engine, a rules engine and ready-made apps, plus its own tags, anchors, receivers and modules. Its site describes the platform as hardware-agnostic across radio technologies such as UWB, BLE and Wi-Fi, for production tracking, material flow, intralogistics, forklift and yard tracking and personnel safety, with a focus on manufacturing, energy equipment and mining.

On ownership: in 2026 XTI Aerospace sold Inpixon GmbH and its RTLS business to new owners — a company held by Wegesrand Technologie Holding and Fyrish Ventures, according to the law firm that advised on the sale. Inpixon continues to market its RTLS products under its own name.

How Spatial Map differs

Spatial Map is browser-based indoor mapping software for operations teams. You import a PDF or DWG floor plan, let AI Map draft walls, doors, racks, stairs and lifts for you to review, trace the rest, and stack the floors into a 3D map. Then you bind every shape to live data — RFID reads, BLE tag positions from your RTLS, sensor readings, stock from a WMS — through tables, REST sources and a per-table write API. Reports, in-app alerts, read-only share links and multi-floor wayfinding with step-free routes come from the same map, and Ask AI (beta) answers questions about a facility from its tables. Pro is $60 a month or $600 a year for up to 4 facilities after a 7-day free trial, and an open-source edition (MIT) runs on your own servers.

  • A map layer, not a positioning system — Spatial Map shows positions your RTLS engine, RFID middleware or gateways report; it sells no tags or anchors and computes no locations.
  • Build and change the map yourself — import a PDF or DWG, let AI Map draft walls, doors, racks and stairs for review, and redraw a line or a store when the layout changes.
  • Many systems on one map — RTLS positions next to RFID reads, stock levels, temperatures and work orders, each from its own table, with in-app alerts.
  • A public price and open source — Pro is $60 a month, or self-host the MIT-licensed open-source edition.

When Inpixon may be the better choice

If you need precise real-time location built from the ground up — tags on parts, carriers and forklifts, anchors across the plant, a location engine, safety rules such as collision avoidance — you need an RTLS vendor such as Inpixon. Spatial Map adds none of that: no hardware, no positioning and no safety logic.

When Spatial Map is the better fit

If positions already exist and the gap is a shared, current map: one view of a plant where RTLS positions sit next to stock, quality and dock data, built by your own team and shared with people who have no RTLS login. If your RTLS can send positions over REST, Spatial Map can show them — see RTLS software and the manufacturing demo.

How Spatial Map does it

Evaluate Spatial Map next to Inpixon in four steps

  1. 01

    Write down the job

Wayfinding for visitors, live operations for staff, or both? The answer decides which tool fits.

  2. 02

    Import one real floor

Start a 7-day trial (no card) and import the PDF or DWG of one floor you know well.

  3. 03

    Connect one live feed

Push a few rows from your RFID, BLE, sensor or WMS system to a table and link them to shapes.

  4. 04

    Share it and compare

Send a read-only link to the people who would use it daily and score both tools on the same building.

Inpixon alternative — frequently asked questions

Only for part of the job. Spatial Map is a map and data layer that shows positions from your RTLS; it does not supply tags, anchors or a location engine. If you need the RTLS itself, an RTLS vendor such as Inpixon is the right comparison.

In 2026 XTI Aerospace sold Inpixon GmbH and its RTLS business to a company held by Wegesrand Technologie Holding and Fyrish Ventures, according to the law firm that advised on the deal. Check Inpixon’s own site for current company details.

Yes, if the RTLS can send positions or zone presence over REST. Write them to a Spatial Map table with the write API, or let a REST source poll your endpoint; data links show them as live markers with history.

No. It calculates no positions and runs no safety logic. Alerts can flag a table row that matches a rule — for example an item in the wrong zone — in the app, but they are not a safety system.
