Indoor mapping and RFID tracking for Kuwait’s co-ops, malls and warehouses

Kuwait shops differently from its neighbours. Much of the weekly grocery run happens at neighbourhood co-operatives, evenings are spent in very large malls, and almost everything on the shelves arrives through the ports and cold stores first. Spatial Map puts those stores and warehouses on a live 3D map — shelf stock, RFID reads, fridge temperatures and staff — in Arabic or English, in the browser.

The co-operative societies: a retail model of their own

In most Kuwaiti neighbourhoods the main supermarket belongs to a consumer co-operative society owned by local residents. Each co-op runs its main store and branches in its area, many are supplied through central warehouses, and boards and shareholders expect to see how the business is doing. It is a retail model found almost nowhere else, and it creates a specific set of questions: which branch is short of which category, how the main store’s fridges are holding up, and what is sitting in the warehouse behind them.

In Spatial Map each branch and warehouse is a facility in one workspace, grouped into a named solution per co-op. Departments and shelves are coloured from your daily stock counts, fridges and freezers by temperature, and warehouse rack locations by quantity. A read-only share link can give a board member or supplier a view of one site without an account.

Malls and multi-floor stores

Kuwait has one of the region’s most developed mall cultures: large, multi-level centres that work as social destinations as much as shopping trips, with department stores and hypermarkets spread over several floors. For the retailer inside, shrink, stock accuracy and footfall all matter at once.

The Retail Mart demo shows how that looks on a map: RFID reads at the exits, escalators and lifts, departments coloured by stock, BLE-tagged trolleys and staff, and reports for reader reads, item tracking and cold-chain sensors. For mall operators, footfall from your counters can be shown as heatmaps on each level.

Shuwaikh, Shuaiba and Mubarak Al-Kabeer ports

Kuwait’s seaborne trade runs mainly through Shuwaikh Port, next to Kuwait City, and Shuaiba Port in the industrial south. Mubarak Al-Kabeer Port on Bubiyan Island is under development as a future large container port. Around them sit the bonded stores, distributors’ warehouses and cross-docks that turn containers into store deliveries.

For those sites Spatial Map maps dock doors, yard slots, the gate and weighbridge, with RFID-tagged pallets shown at the lane where they were last read — see the Eastport Cross-Dock demo — and rack locations in a distribution warehouse coloured from your WMS or ERP export, as in Crestline Fulfillment.

Food imports and the cold chain

Kuwait imports most of its food, much of it chilled or frozen, so cold stores between the port and the co-op shelves carry a lot of responsibility. Food-safety and QA teams need to see which room is drifting, whether a door was left open and where held pallets stand.

Spatial Map colours cold rooms, freezers and display fridges by the live reading from your sensors and keeps every change in the row history, so an excursion can be replayed on the map rather than reconstructed from a log. It shows state only; it does not raise alarms, and your procedures stay the formal record. The Polar Pharma demo shows the cold-store side.

Oil-sector spare parts and MRO stores

The oil fields, refineries and petrochemical plants that anchor Kuwait’s economy keep large stores of spare parts — pumps, valves, seals, instruments — where finding a critical spare quickly matters more than anything else. Stock usually lives in an ERP, while the physical location is in someone’s head.

With the rack tool, each bin location is drawn on the store’s floor plan and coloured from an ERP export or a polled REST endpoint, so a search for a part shows the rack and level where it sits. RFID or BLE tags on high-value spares can add last-seen locations from your reader or gateway software.

Vision 2035, a new airport terminal and working with us

Kuwait Vision 2035 — "New Kuwait" — aims to turn the country into a regional trade and financial centre, with ports, logistics and infrastructure among its pillars. A new passenger terminal at Kuwait International Airport is under construction, one of several large buildings that will need an operational map from the day they open.

Spatial Map is sold online and our team works with Kuwaiti customers remotely, in Arabic or English. Start the trial on your own, or send a floor plan and a sample export through the contact form; larger estates are scoped as a fixed-price custom service.

How Spatial Map does it

From a branch floor plan to a live store map

  1. 01

    Upload the plans

PDF, DWG (AutoCAD R2004–R2018) or an image of each store level and warehouse, placed at real scale.

  2. 02

    Draw shelves and racks

Departments, shelving runs, racks with bin locations, fridges, escalators and lifts.

  3. 03

    Add the stock

Upload a CSV or Excel count today; connect RFID middleware, sensors or your ERP via the write API or REST polling later.

  4. 04

    Share with the board

Live maps, reports in PDF or Excel and read-only links for boards, branches and suppliers.

What Kuwaiti teams use it for

Questions from teams in Kuwait

No. Spatial Map is sold online and our team works with customers in Kuwait remotely, by video call and through the contact form, in Arabic or English.

Yes. Each site is a facility in the same workspace, and you can group them into a named solution. Pro covers up to 4 facilities; larger estates are quoted as a custom service.

Yes. Upload a CSV or Excel export whenever you want the map refreshed, and every change is kept in the row history. If the system can expose a REST endpoint later, a table can poll it on a schedule.

No. Spatial Map shows the temperature on the map and in reports and keeps the history, but it does not send notifications. Alarms stay with your monitoring system.

Prices are set in US dollars and are the same worldwide: a 7-day free trial for up to 5 facilities, then Pro at $60 a month or $600 a year for up to 4 facilities.
