Indoor mapping and RFID tracking software for Switzerland

Switzerland makes small things of great value — medicines, watches, precision instruments, machine components — and moves them through a compact, tightly connected logistics network. Spatial Map gives the cold stores, secure stores, assembly halls and warehouses behind them a live 3D map in the browser, in German or French, fed by the RFID, BLE and sensor hardware you already run.

No credit card. Runs in the browser. Pro is $60/month for up to 4 facilities. Book a demo

Watches and other high-value goods

Swiss watchmaking is concentrated along the Jura arc — from Geneva and the Vallée de Joux through Neuchâtel and La Chaux-de-Fonds to Biel/Bienne — and the industry exports most of what it makes. Movements, cases, dials, finished watches and precious materials are small, valuable and counted piece by piece, as are jewellery, fine instruments and other high-value goods that pass through Swiss secure stores.

Spatial Map maps the secure store, the vault and cages, the workshops and the dispatch area on the real layout. Security zones, access points and choke-point counters sit on the plan, and RFID reads from your middleware show which tagged item passed which reader, with each item’s row history in the detail drawer. The Northgate Electronics demo follows 863 RFID-tagged units through security zones and shows the High-Value Stock & Shrink report. Spatial Map shows what happened; it does not lock doors or raise alarms.

Life sciences around Basel

The Basel region is one of the world’s leading life-sciences clusters, with pharmaceutical research, production and logistics close to the borders with France and Germany, and further pharma and biotech sites around Zurich and the Lake Geneva region. Medicines are stored and shipped under Good Distribution Practice, with Swissmedic as the national authority, and much of the value sits in temperature-controlled rooms.

Spatial Map colours every cold room, freezer and controlled-ambient zone by the live reading from your probes, shows doors and quarantine areas, and keeps a history the QA team can replay and export. The Polar Pharma demo shows cold rooms, freezers, reefer docks and a QC laboratory. Your quality system remains the record; the map makes the state of the building visible.

Precision machinery and the MEM industries

The Swiss mechanical, electrical and metal industries — the MEM sector — build machine tools, automation equipment, instruments and components, often in mid-sized plants with many variants and small batches. Material waits at test stations, kits wait for one missing part, and specialised tools and gauges are shared between halls.

Spatial Map draws assembly bays, test areas, stores and docks on the plant layout and colours them from your ERP or MES data, while BLE tags on tools and gauges show where they were last located. The Summit Assembly demo shows lines, workstations and 867 raw-material and finished-goods rack locations on one map.

Zurich Airport and the Rhine ports of Basel

Much of Switzerland’s high-value air freight passes through Zurich Airport, the country’s largest, and Geneva Airport. Bulk goods and containers come up the Rhine to the Swiss Rhine Ports at Basel, the country’s inland link to the North Sea ports, and are distributed by rail and road from there.

For a warehouse at either gateway, Spatial Map puts dock doors, staging lanes and racks on one live map, with RFID-tagged pallets read at each door. Read-only share links with an expiry date give a forwarder or a customer a view of their shipments without an account.

The revised FADP and workplace monitoring

Switzerland is not in the EU. Its revised Federal Act on Data Protection (nFADP, in German revDSG), in force since 1 September 2023, governs personal data — including location data that can be tied to employees — and the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC) publishes guidance. Swiss labour law also restricts monitoring systems intended to watch employees’ behaviour at work. If you also process data about people in the EU, the GDPR may apply as well. Your legal advisers decide what applies to your project.

Most Swiss projects therefore tag assets — pallets, kits, tools, high-value items — rather than people. Spatial Map shows only the data you send it, the four roles limit who can see a facility, and every workspace is isolated. A data processing agreement is available and the security page explains how data is protected.

German and French interface

The app is available in German and French, as well as English, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese, and each user picks their own language. It is not yet available in Italian; teams in Ticino typically use it in English, German or French, and their room names and report titles can be in Italian. Spatial Map is sold online at the same USD price worldwide — not in Swiss francs — and our team works with customers in Switzerland remotely, by video call and through the contact form. Larger rollouts are quoted as a fixed-price custom service in German, French or English. This page is also available in German.

How Spatial Map does it

From plan to live map

  1. 01

    Import the plan

Upload a PDF or a DWG (AutoCAD R2004–R2018) of the store, plant or warehouse and place it at real-world scale.

  2. 02

    Draw zones and stores

Trace security zones, vaults and cages, cold rooms, racks with locations, doors and lifts.

  3. 03

    Connect RFID, probes and ERP

Your middleware posts rows to a table with the write API, or Spatial Map polls its REST endpoint.

  4. 04

    Review and share

Live map, history playback, reports in PDF or Excel, and read-only links with an expiry date.

What Swiss teams use it for

Secure stores for watches and valuables

Security zones, access points and RFID-tagged items read at every choke point.

Pharma cold stores and QC

Temperature zones, doors, quarantine and QC release on one map.

Precision assembly

Bays, kits and test areas coloured by status from your ERP or MES.

Tools, gauges and lab instruments

Shared equipment located room by room, with calibration status from your system.

Gateway warehouses

Dock doors, staging lanes and tagged pallets near the airport or the Rhine ports.

Questions from Swiss teams

German and French, plus English, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese; each user picks their own. Italian is not available yet, so teams in Ticino usually work in English, German or French. Your own content can be in any language.

Location data that can be tied to an employee is personal data under the nFADP, and Swiss labour law restricts systems intended to monitor employees’ behaviour; your legal advisers decide what applies. Yes, if your RFID system reads them. Your middleware posts reads (item, reader, time) to a table or exposes a REST endpoint that Spatial Map polls; each item’s latest read appears on the map and its row history can be replayed. Spatial Map does not read tags or control doors.

No. Pricing is the same worldwide and in US dollars: a 7-day free trial for up to 5 facilities, then Pro at $60 a month or $600 a year for up to 4 facilities. Larger estates are quoted as custom services.
