Indoor mapping and RFID tracking software for Norway

Norway’s economy runs along its coast: farmed salmon and other seafood leave chilled for markets across Europe and beyond, and the offshore energy industry is supplied from bases near the quayside. Spatial Map gives the buildings behind those flows — fish packing halls and cold stores, supply-base warehouses and tool stores, distribution centres around Oslo and Bergen — a live 3D map in the browser, fed by the sensors, RFID and systems you already run. The interface is in English; Norwegian is not available.

Seafood and the fish cold chain

Norway is one of the world’s largest seafood exporters, and farmed Atlantic salmon is its best-known product. Fresh fish is chilled, packed in boxes with ice and moved fast — much of it by road to continental Europe, some by air to more distant markets — while frozen products wait in freezer stores along the coast. In packing plants and export terminals, how long a pallet spends at each stage matters as much as the temperature of the room it is in.

Spatial Map draws packing halls, chill rooms, freezer stores, dock doors and reefer bays on the plan and colours each from your sensors. Pallets on hold or waiting for a truck are marked in place, door sensors show which chill room is open, and the History player replays a shift’s readings for the quality review. The Polar Pharma demo — a pharmaceutical cold store rather than a fish plant — shows the same building blocks: temperature zones, cold-room doors, reefer docks and pallets on hold. Your quality system remains the record; the map shows the state of the building.

Offshore supply bases: spare parts and tool stores

Oil and gas production on the Norwegian continental shelf, and a growing offshore wind industry, are supplied from bases along the coast, with well-known clusters around Stavanger and Bergen. Their warehouses hold spare parts, consumables, rental tools and offshore containers that must reach a supply vessel before it sails, and a part that cannot be found on the quay can hold up work offshore.

Spatial Map puts racks with their locations, inspection and quarantine areas, tool stores and quayside staging on one map. Stock by location from your ERP or WMS colours the racks, BLE or RFID tags on tools and containers show where they were last seen, and checked-out equipment is visible by status. The Crestline Fulfillment demo shows rack-level stock across 2,204 locations, and Harborview shows equipment checked in and out by department. For tagged tools and containers, see BLE tracking software.

Retail and distribution around Oslo and Bergen

Most of Norway’s population lives in the south, and much of the country’s grocery and retail distribution is organised from warehouses in the Oslo region, with regional hubs on the west coast around Bergen and further north. Long distances and winter roads make it expensive to send the wrong load, so dock doors, staging lanes and chilled, frozen and ambient zones all need to be right before a truck leaves.

In Spatial Map, a distribution centre becomes one live map: dock doors and staging lanes coloured by load status, cold zones by temperature, returnable roll cages and pallets as tagged assets. Stores work the same way at a smaller scale — the Retail Mart demo shows shelf stock, fridge and freezer sensors and RFID readers across three floors.

The GDPR through the EEA Agreement

Norway is not an EU member, but as part of the European Economic Area it applies the GDPR through the EEA Agreement, with Datatilsynet as the supervisory authority. Norway’s Working Environment Act also has its own chapter on control measures in the workplace, which expects such measures to be discussed with employee representatives before they are introduced. Your legal advisers decide what applies to a particular project.

Most Norwegian projects sidestep the question where they can by tagging fish pallets, tools, containers and roll cages rather than people. Spatial Map only shows the data you send it; the four roles (Owner, Admin, Editor, Viewer) limit who sees a facility, share links expose only the layers and floors you choose, and every workspace is isolated. A data processing agreement is available, and the security page describes how data is protected.

Language and working with us from Norway

The interface is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese; it is not available in Norwegian, and Norwegian teams typically work in English. Room names, rack codes and report titles stay in Norwegian, æ, ø and å included. Spatial Map is sold online at the same USD price worldwide, and our team works with customers in Norway remotely, by video call and through the contact form. For multi-site rollouts, floor-plan digitisation and integration are quoted as a fixed-price custom service.

How Spatial Map does it

From plant drawing to live cold-chain map

  1. 01

    Import the plan

Upload the packing plant, cold store or base warehouse as a PDF or DWG (AutoCAD R2004–R2018) and place it at scale.

  2. 02

    Draw rooms, racks and quays

Trace chill rooms, freezers, racks with their locations, tool stores, dock doors and quayside staging.

  3. 03

    Connect sensors and ERP

Your IoT platform, gateway software or ERP posts rows to a table, or Spatial Map polls its REST endpoint.

  4. 04

    Review and share

History playback for the quality review, reports in PDF or Excel, and read-only links for customers or forwarders.

Questions from Norwegian teams

Yes, through the EEA Agreement. Spatial Map processes the data you send it, a data processing agreement is available, and the security page explains how data is protected. Whether a specific use — especially tracking employees — is lawful is for you as the controller and your legal advisers to assess.

No. The app is available in English, German, French, Spanish, Arabic and Chinese, and Norwegian teams typically use it in English. Your own content — room names, rack codes, report titles — can be in Norwegian.

Yes, if your systems record where they are. Your packing or warehouse system, RFID middleware or IoT platform posts rows to a table, or Spatial Map polls its REST endpoint; pallets then appear in the right room or dock, with temperatures from your sensors and a row history you can replay.

Yes, with read-only share links: choose the layers and floors, set an expiry and a view cap, and revoke the link at any time. The customer does not need an account.

No. Spatial Map is sold online and our team works with Norwegian customers remotely, by video call and through the contact form. There is nothing to install on site.

No. Pricing is the same worldwide and in US dollars: a 7-day free trial for up to 5 facilities, then Pro at $60 a month or $600 a year for up to 4 facilities. Larger estates are quoted as custom services.
